Curating My Closet Part 1: Gathering Inspiration

So it turns out it took me until August to realize that I have an extremely limited summer wardrobe. I have a handful of lightweight tops, dresses, and only 2 pairs of shorts (neither of which fit)…not exactly ideal for sticky weather that comes with living in Ohio. After getting sick of re-wearing the same baggy dress days in a row, I thought it would be the perfect time to revisit my Curated Closet workbook (I shared a bit about it here).

After assessing my current wardrobe, the next step of the process is gathering inspiration and trying new styles. While the current world situation made going to the mall to try out different silhouettes and styles a huge NO for now, I was able to put together a few Pinterest boards loaded with outfits, icons, and #goals that I am excited to start incorporating into my closet. I am crazy in love with the overall vibe of all of these lewks, so I thought I’d share a few here with you guys! I’m also determined to make most of these outfits myself over time, so I thought I’d also include a few patterns and fabric ideas as well:

What I Learned:

  • I’m heavily influenced by the 60’s and earthy color pallets.

  • I prefer my clothing to feature lots of texture and I enjoy layered looks…even in the summer.

  • I love fitted bottoms and am dying to try a mini skirt (I own exactly 1 skirt right now, and this is it).

  • As much as I love the flowy peasant looks and billowy bold fabrics of the 70’s and 80’s…it’s a style I can appreciate but don’t need in my wardrobe right now.

I’m so excited to finally start trying a few of these looks out so I can get to work on my very own *AeStHeTiC*
