My Spring Sewing Plans

I’m a planner at heart. For me, simply thinking about upcoming projects and putting together mood boards can sometimes be more fun than the actual making of the item itself. Though I often change my mind the second new inspiration strikes, I still enjoy dreaming up makes based on images or styles I come across. With the transition to a new season finally upon us, I thought I’d share a few of my spring sewing plans and inspiration boards with you!

I’ve been focusing on wardrobe staples a lot lately. Since starting my Curated Closet journey, I’ve noticed that what I’d really love to have is an at-home uniform. After I stumbled across this image of Audrey Hepburn, I couldn’t help but think about adding a simple shift dress to my wardrobe. Something I could easily dress up with a heeled sandal or flats, but still wear casually with a denim jacket and sneakers if I wanted. I think a Wiksten Shift dress in a linen or drapey cotton would be absolutely PERF!

I am a SUCKER for a good sundress. I absolutely adore this dreamy Seren dress from Tilly & The Buttons, and with all kinds of bridal showers and weddings coming up on the horizon (not to mention my 5 year wedding anniversary) I think this dress in a sweet floral printed fabric would get plenty of wear. Bonus – I already have these gold buttons sitting in my caboodle waiting to be used so I’m already half way there, right?!

I actually just started putting together my pattern pieces for this one. These Patsy overalls were released from Ready To Sew this week and I grabbed them as soon as they came out because…well, just look at them! These are an at-home staple if there ever was one, but still stylish enough for a run to the grocery store or to the park with my daughter. I’m starting with the olive chino fabric I’ve had sitting in my stash for over a year now, but if things go well, I think I’m going to bang out a floral version as well. Maybe in a linen? Can you get any more spring-ready than floral linen? The answer is obviously no.

I also want to take my knitting to the next level and finally plunge into a simple sweater pattern. I live in Ohio, so even if it is summer by the time I finish, I’ll still have plenty of opportunities to wear it over a tank with shorts at night, or layered with a sundress on a cooler day.

What’s on your cutting table for spring? Whatever it is, I hope it makes you happy!
