Growing up, my house was never silent. We listened to music almost constantly while we played, cleaned, cooked, and ate dinner. My parents encouraged us to develop our own unique taste in music and not to silo ourselves within one box or one genre. In my home, it wasn’t uncommon to hear a TLC song, followed by Led Zeppelin, followed by Diana Ross and the Supremes.
As I got older, I connected most with my friends through making and sharing mixed CD’s and playlists based around different themes like “Party Music” and “Sad Girl Jams”, which I think is a must when one gets into the “mixtape” game. To this day, I still have the first few CD’s my husband and I swapped when we first started dating almost 10 years ago…awwwwwwwwwwww.
All this is to say, I feel most myself when I’m listening to my music – especially while I’m working creatively with my hands. So, I thought I’d share my monthly playlists here for others to enjoy!
Since its now officially summer, all I can think about is getting outside, soaking in the sun, and lounging by the pool. I mean, I don’t have a pool or access to one, but a girl can daydream, right? So for July, here’s a fun pool party playlist you can add to your summer fun rotation. Enjoy poolside or inside, dreaming of being by a pool. Either way, it’ll be fun!
